We are pleased to announce that Caden Morrow, 7 (Orinda, CA), and Shay Patel, 13 (Menlo Park, CA) are each recipients of a 2017 Yours Humanly Children Have the Power to Empower Award. 

 

Caden is being recognized for raising funds for orphaned children of Haiti and donating those funds through the Center of Hope—Haiti. His innovative fundraising efforts are making an impact on the lives of children by helping to provide them with shelter, education, nutrition, healthcare, and life skills.

 

Shay is being recognized for running a free basketball camp for 60 sixth graders from East Palo Alto’s Ravenswood School District through his Alley-Oop Kids nonprofit, which he founded in 2014 when he was 11 years old to inspire kids in need through positive sports experiences.

We are pleased to share that Yours Humanly is now a PayPal Giving Fund certified charity. Individuals and companies will now be able to support our cause through PayPal Giving Fund, eBay Giving Works, and Humble Bundle. PayPal covers the fees so 100% of the donations go towards the cause.

Jaylen Sanchez, 7, of Pittsburg, California, was recognized at our 2017 Gift of Schooling Gala held Friday, March 31, at the Blackhawk Automotive Museum in Danville, CA. Assemblywoman Catharine Baker, 16th District, presented Jaylen the first Yours Humanly Children Have the Power to Empower Award! Jaylen set up a free lemonade stand and donated all voluntary contributions, totaling $1,400, to local children in need. She was recognized for her outstanding act of goodness.

Jaylen Sanchez, 7, of Pittsburg, California, is the Yours Humanly Children Have the Power to Empower Award’s first recipient. She will be recognized at our 2017 Gift of Schooling Gala, to be held Friday, March 31, at the Blackhawk Automotive Museum in Danville, California, and emceed by CBS Channel 5 anchor Juliette Goodrich.

 

Sanchez is receiving the Children Have the Power to Empower Award for setting up a free lemonade stand in her front yard and donating all the money she raised through voluntary contributions-which totaled $1,400-to children in need. She donated money toward uniforms and backpacks for a local shelter; school supplies and backpacks for needy students at her school; scholarships for students who are not able to pay for catechism at her local church; and the purchase of food for the homeless.
