Business & Nonprofit Consultant
Diane Salmon has a lifelong interest in how people view the world, make decisions, and respond to an environment reshaped by their choices. This has guided her career in marketing, communications, data, and product innovation. For Visa Inc., she co-created 15 patents pertaining to the delivery of customer engagement and loyalty capabilities. As an advertising executive, she provided strategic consulting and marketing support to national and global corporations in the retail, restaurant, travel, financial services, and consumer packaged goods arenas. She recently transitioned from product and marketing roles in global finance technology organizations to assisting smaller businesses and nonprofits with their planning and funding needs.
A graduate of Whitman College, Diane holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and an MA from Columbia University’s School of Public & International Affairs, and is a board member of Mt. Diablo Business Women, which supports regional business women and contributes to their professional growth.
Diane is keenly interested in the critical issue of how scarcity affects people’s lives. Whether it is money, housing, food, safety, clean water, or education, if the scarcity is severe enough for long enough, the impacts are profound, not only to individuals and families, but to the global community overall. When providing for fundamental human needs, education may be the most challenging to sustain, but also the most influential for long-term community benefit.
For this reason, Diane joined the Yours Humanly Advisory Board, with the organization’s focus on sustained educational support for children in need around the world. Her corporate experience in strategy, team building, project management, and communication help her in her role as director of Yours Humanly’s grant development outreach and grant application efforts. She comes from three generations of primary school teachers and appreciates the opportunity to contribute to the life-changing education programs made possible by Yours Humanly.
