Yours Humanly is pleased to announce that our founder and CEO Sunny Singh has been honored with a regional 2020 Jefferson Award for Public Service and has been featured on KPIX Ch. 5 TV and KCBS 740AM radio. The Jefferson Awards Foundation and the San Francisco Bay Area Jefferson Awards program are committed to the empowerment of others who create positive change and maximize their impact in the community through helping others.
An advocate for all children everywhere, Sunny has dedicated his life to making a difference in the lives of children, with special attention to children in need. He believes that quality education is a basic human right and that every child everywhere should be afforded that right in a safe and nurturing environment.
According to the San Francisco Bay Area Jefferson Awards Steering Committee, Sunny was chosen for his dedication to underprivileged children and for the work he has performed to help the most needy receive a quality education that will help them thrive beyond the classroom. Working in six countries including the United States, Cambodia, India, Nepal, the Philippines, and Haiti, Yours Humanly has served tens of thousands of children since 2013.
“I am humbled and honored to receive a 2020 Jefferson Award for our work on behalf of children in need,” says Sunny Singh. “This has been an amazing and moving journey with so many people—this is our award for what we’ve all accomplished together. Thank you to the Jefferson Award Foundation for considering me worthy.”
The Jefferson Awards for Public Service, the most prestigious and longest-standing public service awards in the United States, are given at both local and national levels. Local winners are “ordinary people who do extraordinary things without expectation of recognition.” It is the goal of the Jefferson Awards to inspire others to become involved in community and public service.
For fifteen years, KPIX has been profiling Bay Area award winners’ stories of the “quiet heroes who show how one person can make a difference in community.” At a later date, all 2020 San Francisco Bay Area regional winners will be recognized at the annual Jefferson Awards Ceremony in San Francisco. The ceremony highlights the passion, energy, and impact of Jefferson Award winners, who not only provide volunteer services, but who also champion the importance of volunteerism in local and global communities.
