Purpose
At Yours Humanly, we are committed to conducting our work with the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, accountability, and respect. This Code of Conduct establishes the principles and expectations that guide the behavior of everyone representing our organization. It helps ensure that we maintain the trust of the children, families, donors, volunteers, partners, and communities we serve while advancing our mission of transforming lives through education.
Scope
This Code of Conduct applies to all members of the Board of Directors, employees, interns, volunteers, committee members, ambassadors, contractors, consultants, and anyone acting on behalf of Yours Humanly.
Every individual representing the organization shares a responsibility to uphold these standards and conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the mission, values, and reputation of Yours Humanly.
Our Standards of Conduct
Integrity and Professional Responsibility
Individuals representing Yours Humanly are expected to:
- Act honestly, ethically, and with integrity in every interaction.
- Be dependable and remain committed to fulfilling assigned responsibilities.
- Accept responsibilities consistent with their abilities, experience, and availability.
- Approach every assignment with professionalism, an open mind, and a willingness to learn.
- Accept guidance and constructive feedback from supervisors, organizational leadership, or designated representatives.
- Cooperate respectfully with Board members, employees, volunteers, partners, and fellow representatives.
- Follow all applicable laws, organizational policies, procedures, and instructions.
- Use organizational resources responsibly and only for authorized purposes.
Respect, Inclusion, and Professional Conduct
Everyone representing Yours Humanly is expected to foster an environment built upon dignity, respect, professionalism, and inclusion.
Individuals shall:
- Treat every person with dignity, courtesy, fairness, and respect.
- Respect differences in culture, background, beliefs, experiences, and perspectives.
- Maintain professional behavior in all interactions.
- Avoid profane or abusive language.
- Refrain from bullying, intimidation, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, or disruptive behavior.
- Conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on Yours Humanly and the communities we serve.
Child Protection
The safety and well-being of children is central to the mission of Yours Humanly.
Everyone representing the organization is expected to:
- Always act in the best interests of children.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
- Treat every child with dignity, respect, and compassion.
- Immediately report any concerns involving the safety, welfare, or well-being of a child through the appropriate organizational channels.
- Comply with all applicable child safeguarding policies and procedures.
Conflict of Interest
Individuals representing Yours Humanly shall avoid situations in which personal, financial, or professional interests conflict—or appear to conflict—with the interests of the organization.
Any actual or potential conflict of interest must be disclosed promptly to organizational leadership or the appropriate governing authority so it can be reviewed and addressed appropriately.
Confidentiality and Privacy
Individuals representing Yours Humanly may have access to confidential or privileged information relating to children, families, donors, volunteers, employees, partners, and organizational operations.
Everyone representing the organization is expected to:
- Protect confidential and proprietary information.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all privileged information to which they are exposed.
- Respect the privacy of children, families, donors, volunteers, employees, partners, and fellow representatives.
- Refrain from sharing confidential information without proper authorization or legal obligation.
Photography, Audio, and Video Recording
To protect the privacy and dignity of those we serve:
- Photography, audio recording, or video recording may only take place when authorized by Yours Humanly and when all required permissions have been obtained.
- Unauthorized recording or distribution of images, audio, video, or confidential information is prohibited.
Safety and Security
Yours Humanly is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for everyone participating in its programs, events, and activities.
Individuals representing the organization shall not:
- Possess, use, or be under the influence of alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs while participating in organizational activities or representing Yours Humanly.
- Report to any organizational activity while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- Possess or carry dangerous or unauthorized materials, including explosives, firearms, weapons, or similar items, except where expressly authorized by law and organizational policy.
- Engage in actual or threatened violence.
- Engage in conduct that endangers the life, safety, health, or well-being of others.
Gifts, Compensation, and Personal Benefit
Individuals representing Yours Humanly are expected to serve the organization with integrity and without seeking personal gain.
Unless specifically authorized by organizational leadership:
- Individuals shall not solicit or accept tips or gratuities.
- Individuals shall not request that meals or personal expenses be paid on their behalf.
- Volunteers shall not expect or receive monetary compensation for volunteer service.
- Organizational responsibilities shall never be used for personal financial benefit.
Reporting Ethical Concerns
Everyone representing Yours Humanly shares responsibility for protecting the integrity of the organization.
Anyone who becomes aware of conduct that may violate this Code is encouraged to:
- Raise the concern respectfully with the individual involved when appropriate.
- Report concerns through the appropriate supervisor, manager, Board representative, or defined chain of responsibility when direct resolution is not appropriate or the concern remains unresolved.
Reports will be reviewed appropriately and handled as confidentially as reasonably possible. Retaliation against anyone who reports a concern in good faith will not be tolerated.
Accountability
Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct or other organizational policies may result in appropriate corrective action, including removal from volunteer assignments, disciplinary action, termination of employment or contractual relationships, removal from Board or committee service where permitted, or permanent prohibition from representing Yours Humanly, depending on the nature and severity of the violation.
Examples of conduct that may result in corrective action include, but are not limited to:
- Verbal, physical, or visual harassment.
- Actual or threatened violence.
- Conduct endangering the life, safety, health, or well-being of others.
- Failure to follow organizational policies or procedures.
- Bullying or taking unfair advantage of another individual.
- Failure to cooperate with supervisors, leadership, mentors, Board members, staff members, or organizational representatives.
- Unauthorized disclosure of confidential information.
- Conduct that significantly compromises the safety, reputation, mission, or integrity of Yours Humanly.
