Children Have the Power to Empower® Award

Yours Humanly is an organization of compassionate individuals who value and appreciate the good that millions of people across the country do for others on a daily basis. We are particularly in awe of the number of children who perform acts of goodness and who, at their young ages, are already making a difference in the lives of others. We must encourage them, through recognition and positive feedback, to continue to care for others and do what they can to ease life’s journey for those who struggle—because we are a nation of people helping people and because it’s the right thing to do.

For this reason, we created the Children Have the Power to Empower® Award, a distinctive award that recognizes children across the United States for their outstanding acts of goodness that significantly impact people who are struggling and in desperate need of help and comfort. The Award showcases children and their outstanding acts of goodness in a meaningful way, and gives them a platform to connect, share their stories, and see what others are doing to make a difference in the lives of people in need. The award is given quarterly, and there may be multiple recipients each quarter. Award recipients receive a personalized certificate and medal, and are profiled on the Yours Humanly website and through social media.

Mission

To recognize children ages 10 to 17 for their outstanding acts of goodness and encourage them to continue to do what they can to ease life’s journey for those who struggle.

Vision

To help create a kinder, more compassionate world by teaching children to believe in the value of goodness and selfless service to humanity.

Nomination and Judging Periods

During a three-month Nomination Period, an adult may nominate a child who he or she feels is deserving of the Children Have the Power to Empower® Award. The Nominee must be 10 to 17 years of age and must have played a major role in creating, implementing, and carrying out the initiative that has made a difference in the lives of others. Nominations must be made within one year of the act of goodness.

The Nomination Period will be followed by a month-long Judging Period, during which time a panel of distinguished judges will review all submissions for that quarter and make final award recipient decisions.
